This year’s flooding has been extreme, especially in Bangladesh in the greater Sylhet region since mid-June.

As of Saturday, July 02, 2022, at least 120 people in Sylhet had died since mid-May from flood-related causes, including drowning, electrocutions and landslides, government data show. More than 20,000 people have been infected with waterborne diseases. Crops have been devastated.

The northeast, an area that produces most of the rice for a country of about 170 million people, has been especially hard hit. At least 540,000 people have been displaced in Sylhet.

“Every piece of real estate in Sylhet is populated, and this entire area is underwater,” said Sheldon Yett, the United Nations Children’s Fund representative to the country, referring to the northeast.

In the midst of such extreme conditions and frightening situations, Sylhet Markaz, organized on July 1, 2022 it’s quarterly Jode, (Happening once in three months), like other Markaz across the country.

This Quarterly’s Jode has already ended in various markaz in Bangladesh under the guidelines of World Markaz Nizamuddin. As of July 1, 2022, the Jode has been completed in Sylhet district, Gopalganj district, Gazipur district, Rangpur district, Khulna district, Jaipur Hat district, Bagerhat district, Mymensingh district, Comilla district and so many other districts. A huge gathering of people took place in every district.
