Bhopal Ijtema | Muslims Third Largest Annual Gathering Update

Due to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election, Muslims Third Biggest Annual Islamic Congregation of Bhopal Ijtema may be postponed in November 2023

The Aalmi Tablighi Ijtema, the third biggest annual Islamic congregation of the world that takes place in Bhopal, May be postponed for the second time in 75 years due to the Legislative Assembly elections which are scheduled to be held in or before November 2023 to elect all 230 members of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

The Aalmi Tablighi Ijtema was postponed for the first time in 72 years due to the coronavirus pandemic on the year of 2020.

The 72nd Aalmi Tablighi Ijtema in Bhopal was placed to get into the Guinness Book of World Records, which was held on last 22-25 November 2019. Then the 73rd Bhopal Ijtema was held after 2-Year of Covid Break, November 18-21 2022. World Tablighi Amir Shaykh-ul-Hadith Hazrat Ji Ra’abe Maulana Muhammad Sa’ad Bin Harun Bin Yusuf Bin Ilyas As-Siddiqi Al-Kandhlawi db, led the final duaa for both year.

Some Highlights of Bhopal Ijtema:

(1) The first Bhopal congregation was held in 1949 with merely 13 people at Masjid Shakoor Khan in Bhopal.

(2) Earlier, it was held on the premises of the Tajul Masjid one of the biggest mosques in Asia. The venue was shifted to Tajul Masjid as the event grew.

(3) Due to a large number of attendees, the venue was moved to Ghasipura, 11 kilometres from Bhopal, in 2005.

(4) Before Ijtema was held every year in November on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

(5) From 2018, Ijtema is held every year in November on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday by increasing one day.

(6) Four-day congregation, considered as the third biggest gathering of Muslims after Hajj and a similar congregation in Bangladesh.

Due to elections, this 3rd largest gathering in the Muslim world, which used to scheduled to be held in November, may be held in December or January next year.
