80 percent work completed in Bhopal’s Iintkhedi; Single use plastic will be banned.
Aalmi Tablighi Ijtima is to be organized in Bhopal from 29 November to 2 December, 2024 InshaAllah. The Ijtima committee has intensified preparations for this. This time the theme of Ijtima has been kept single use plastic free.
Ijtima Committee’s media co-ordinator Dr. Umar Hafiz said that this time arrangements are being made in about 600 acres of area. In which parking is being built in 300 acres and pandal in 100 acres. Apart from this, other arrangements will be made in 200 acres of area, which will include food zone, wuzu khana, washrooms etc.
A total of 600 acres of area will be used which is equivalent to the area of approximately 120 cricket grounds. An ideal cricket ground is about 5 acres in size.
Single use plastic is completely banned this year
Dr. Umar Hafiz said that every year we try to do something new in Ijtima by taking environmental aspect into consideration. Last year we made it dust free and we also archived this goal. We also made a record of garbage disposal. Within 24 hours of the Ijtima ending, the entire site was cleaned. The recyclable garbage found here was sent to the recycling plant and the disposable garbage was sent to the decomposition plant.
Similarly, two years ago also we worked on the green theme. Vegetarian food was included in it. This year we have made Ijtima free of single use plastic. Apart from water bottles, all single use plastic will be banned. Also, water bottles will be collected immediately.
Regarding the size of the venue of Ijtema, Dr. Umar said that Ijtema has two aspects, internal and external. The external aspect includes traffic and parking movement. The basic traffic and parking movement was on 250 acres last year. This year we have increased it to 300 acres.
Also, last time there were 61 parking spaces. This year it has been increased to 66. The inner portion was also 250 acres last year. This time it is 300 acres. It has a pandal area of 100 acres. Apart from this, food zone, emergency area and toilet, wuzu khana and other necessary markets are being built. We have a total area of 600 acres, which is being used for Ijtema.

The total capacity of the inner pandal is 1 lakh 80 thousand. But, excluding the emergency space, the capacity is considered to be 1 lakh 40 thousand. One lakh to one and a quarter lakh pilgrims come to Ijtima and stay in the inner pandal for 3 days. Apart from this, the crowd of the city comes daily and returns back home.
On the arrangements for the last day of Ijtima, Dr. Umar says that the last day is the day of prayers. On this day we put speakers outside the pandal, people come, pray and go away.
This will be different from previous events:
- The venue will be of 600 acres, last time it was 300 acres.
- 45 thousand volunteers will handle the arrangements, last year there were 30 thousand.
- Parking for vehicles was done on 150 acres of 300 acres last year.
- 45 garbage vehicles will make 3-4 rounds, last year 30 vehicles made 2-3 rounds.
- The 40 bores will take water from 15 external bores of the venue. Last year there were 30.
